Designed to improve comfort and productivity at the same time, the vehicles in the Stralis Active Day and Active Time range offer the best of everything to their owners: modern, functional styling combined with excellent performance and reliability. The new range stands out for the restyled cab exterior and the new features inside. Both versions are powered by Curser 8 and 10 engines that already meet the Euro 5 emissions standards, well ahead of the 2009 deadline.

Available in tractor and rigid versions, the Stralis AT cab is available in two configurations, both with double bunks: with a Standard Roof, or with a High Roof, replacing the medium on request.

Personality, image and practicality.  These are the advantages of the new styling of the Stralis cab. The new exterior styling of the new Stralis has become more modern and attractive thanks to the new grille, redesigned bumpers and the new look of the front light clusters, but its strong personality has not changed: the lines of the cab were designed to guarantee optimal aerodynamic efficiency.

The standard of comfort on the Stralis AT and AD cabs is extremely high: for example, the air-sprung seat combined with the adjustable steering wheel optimises the driving position, while all the switches and controls are easy to reach.

Great care also went into the styling, with the introduction of a number of features compared to the previous range: new colours on the facia make the interior environment more appealing and relaxing; embossed details on the dashboard are pleasant to touch; there is a new steering wheel design, at the centre of which the raised satin-effect Iveco logo stands out; a new range of upholstery enhances the interior.

What is more, the instruments have white scales on a dark background that is backlit in white, which has been specifically designed not to strain the drivers’ eyesight; this in combination with the ICD colour screen makes it possible to verify many parameters on the vehicle in real time, from the average speed to fuel consumption and the maintenance checks.   And to enhance the driver’s comfort and peace of mind, it is all simplified by controls that are conveniently located on the steering wheel.

On the Stralis Active Time and Active Day, the driveline, is perfectly integrated with the Cursor engines, the EuroTronic automatic transmission and the Allison automatic transmission, to guarantee optimal performance and low fuel consumption.

The Cursor engines are the heart of the Stralis. They are powerful and reliable, designed to guarantee excellent performance and low running costs, as well as superior comfort on the road. They are available in different versions, the Cursor 8 delivering 310, 330 and 360 Hp and the Cursor 10  delivering 420 and 450 Hp.

The combination of cutting edge engineering and electronics makes these engines a benchmark in terms of performance, consumption, maintenance costs and durability.

 The power of the Cursor engines is the result of their structure, which guarantees maximum durability and reduces maintenance costs. The configuration has 6 cylinders in line, overhead camshaft and rear timing gear; This guarantees compact dimensions, fewer components and above all, great structural rigidity. This is thanks to a 2 piece cylinder block the lower half of which incorporates seven crankshaft bearings. The result is less vibration, less noise and a safe fluid operation in all situations, enhancing comfort and extending the life of the engine.

The Cursor engines are particularly suited to an economical driving style. The engine power is always available, and in fact the torque curves reach their peak even at low speeds (about 1,000 rpm) maintaining it throughout the use range. This simplifies hill starts with a full load, protects the clutch and guarantees flexibility and quiet running, with fewer gear changes, low fuel consumption and low emissions.

The maximum power is delivered even at intermediate speeds. It thus helps to reduce consumption because it is not necessary always to increase the engine rpm.

The range of gearboxes offered on the Stralis Active Time and Active Day are the 12-speed automated units and Allison automatics.

The Arvin Meritor rear axles were designed to meet all the needs of heavy road transport. Renowned for their exceptional resistance and low maintenance, they are available in simple and double reduction versions to guarantee maximum reliability even for the most demanding missions. The front axle has a steering lock of 52°, which is a great advantage for anyone in the delivery business.

There is a wide range of rear axle ratios that are suitable when travelling fully laden on motorways and main roads: long ratios are recommended on level terrain, with medium loads and for less difficult missions, while “shorter” ratios are suitable for more demanding routes where more traction is required, such as mountain routes or with a full load.
